From the Field to the Fire House, Atlantic City Electric Volunteers Serve Around the Clock

For Julie Reed and Ron Mascola, the commitment to community doesn’t end when their work day ends at Atlantic City Electric.

Julie, a senior business analyst, dedicates countless hours as an assistant coach, treasurer, and concession director of the Smyrna-Clayton youth football, baseball, and cheerleading leagues.

Ron, a senior field engineering technician, dedicates most of his free time as president of the Hammonton Fire Company No. 1.

This past month, Ron and Julie earned the title of Volunteers of the Year at our annual Volunteer Appreciation Breakfast, for exemplifying the company’s dedication to serving our communities. At the breakfast, we recognized more than 100 employees who donate thousands of hours supporting local organizations, community events, and volunteer initiatives.

“It’s most rewarding knowing I can make a positive impact in someone’s life through volunteerism,” said Julie, a twenty-year veteran Atlantic City Electric employee. “Sometimes it’s the little things that have the greatest effect on others.”

She plans events throughout the year focusing attention on childhood cancer and breast cancer, as well as recognizing military personnel at youth football games. Julie is also an associate member of Clayton Fire Company No.1, assisting with fundraising events for the men and women who risk their lives to keep our communities safe.

Ron, a fifteen-year Atlantic City Electric employee, dedicates most of his free time as president of the Hammonton Fire Company No. 1. In addition to fire company volunteer events, Ron gives time at company-sponsored events, including the American Heart Association’s Heart Walk and the Special Olympics New Jersey Beach Bump event. He also supports the Hammonton Cancer Society along with his wife, Joan, who is a member of this organization.

“Volunteerism is important to me,” Ron said. “I’ve always wanted to help and assist others. I’d definitely encourage anyone thinking about volunteering to be part of the action and get involved.”
