Pepco Connects Community with Opportunity at Jobs Fair

Our longtime commitment to hiring diverse, local talent took another step forward at our recent packed job fair showcasing available positions within our Operations department.

The job fair connected hundreds of attendees with hiring managers. Some of the jobs available include: Substation Technical Trainee, Helper Distribution Tester, and Trainee Line Mechanic. Those are just a few of the roles that help provide our customers with safe, reliable, and affordable energy.

“We have many opportunities in our company,” said David Velazquez, president and CEO of Pepco Holdings. “We’re looking for very motivated, qualified people, and we value our partnership with the community at events like this to fill those key roles with the right people.”

The job fair was a partnership between Pepco and the city’s Department of Employment Services, working with the D.C. Workforce Investment Council and the University of the District of Columbia to advertise the event and ensure the message about available positions traveled widely. Pepco, now part of the Exelon family of utilities, is committed to energizing the diverse, local communities where we live and work.

“It’s very important for Pepco to hire in D.C. because as a major employer, we want our workforce to represent our community,” Cassandra Allen of Exelon’s Human Resources department, told The Source.

The job fair is just one way we find qualified candidates to hire new talent.

As part of a partnership with the District of Columbia’s Workforce Investment Council, the District’s Department of Employment Services and the University of the District of Columbia, we helped introduce the D.C. Quick Path to Energy Program earlier this year. The program addresses the District’s need for diverse, skilled applicants to fill the many open positions in the utility industry.
