As June comes to a close, I’m reflecting on our company’s unwavering dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion. At Atlantic City Electric, Delmarva Power, and Pepco, we have long valued these principles as the cornerstones of our culture. Throughout Pride Month, we embraced the celebration of the LGBTQ+ community, reaffirming our commitment to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
Our Employee Resource Group (ERG) for LGBTQ+ employees has been instrumental in cultivating inclusivity. They organized several engaging activities, including virtual panel discussions, and a strong contingent of our employees proudly participated in the Capital Pride Parade in Washington, D.C. These events not only honored the diversity within our workforce and community but also provided opportunities for learning and personal growth—something that I have cherished throughout my career.
Allyship is not just a privilege but a responsibility. I take pride in advocating for equity and equality, values that are deeply engrained in Exelon’s workplace culture, and I aim to instill that same passion in my two sons. Only through allyship can we educate our peers and colleagues to create a world where LGBTQ+ community members can fully thrive. This is why the creation and growth of our Pride ERG has always been a priority of mine.
When we launched the Pride ERG in 2017, we were operating in a much different social landscape. At Exelon, we understand that support for our communities extends beyond providing energy. We’re determined to ensure our LGBTQ+ colleagues and neighbors can thrive.
Pride Month may have come to an end, but our work continues. We remain steadfast in providing a platform for underrepresented voices, promoting leadership diversity, and cultivating an inclusive culture where everyone feels empowered to bring their authentic selves to work.
