Fifty years ago, the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. tragically ended, but his words and his message echo in our lives to this day. At Pepco Holdings, we pledge to make Dr. King’s call for justice and equality our commitment to action, by placing diversity and inclusion at the center of all we do.
We do this through programs like Target 25, which is designed to equip diversity certified suppliers with the tools and knowledge needed to attain the next level of business growth with our companies; through scholarships for Hispanic students looking to major in STEM fields, along with paid internships within our company, in engineering, IT, or cyber security; and through the launch of our Diversity and Inclusion Council, led by 30 of our colleagues who help develop programs, public awareness efforts, and other opportunities to create a workplace, where everyone is treated with dignity and respect.
While these are great accomplishments and much progress has been made, achieving Dr. King’s vision remains a goal and we will continually strive to create a workplace where everyone is respected and has the opportunity to grow and contribute at their greatest potential. It is imperative to our business and our communities.
