The Cape May County Technical School District recently named Atlantic City Electric its 2018 Business Partner of the Year, recognizing our work to advance the High School Energy Career Academy program. The program is part of our $6.5-million workforce development initiative that expands training programs designed to educate tomorrow’s clean energy workforce in New Jersey.
Each year, the technical school recognizes an individual, a company, government agency, or other entity, that demonstrates an outstanding commitment to local students through support and the enhancement toward a technical career.
As part of this initiative, we are partnering with the Atlantic County Institute of Technology, Cape May County Technical School, Cumberland County TEC, and four local workforce development boards, to facilitate our workforce development program. The initiative includes four programs — Get into Energy Math Test and Boot Camp, Women in Sustainable Employment Pathway, Atlantic City Electric Line School, and the High School Energy Career Academy.
The High School Energy Career Academy is a four-year program focused on preparing students in grades nine through 12, for entering post-secondary education or moving directly to employment with an energy company. The extensive program model not only helps students build their knowledge of the energy industry, it also includes employability skills and integrated academic components as well.
We are proud to support this exciting program, helping provide meaningful energy jobs throughout the state, and building the energy workforce of tomorrow.
