Delmarva Power Hosts Energy Assistance Event in Wilmington

On November 16, Delmarva Power hosted a joint energy assistance event with Energize Delaware and The Resurrection Center, where our Delaware customers came out to seek help with their bills.

Energy assistance was available for those who are behind on their payments, have an active account with us and meet other eligibility requirements. Eligible customers may have been eligible to receive up to a $300 credit on their bill.

It was one of the most well-attended energy assistance events, with more than 270 customers in attendance.

“As we approach the winter and colder months, we know our customers are going to be using more energy to heat their homes, so we were excited to offer some of our customers assistance on their bills,” said Nadira Alston, External Affairs manager for Delmarva Power. “We’re also appreciative of our community partners that came out to support our customers. We look forward to being able to offer more of these events in the future.”

Some of those community partners and resources included:

  • Delaware Health and Social Services enrolled customers in energy assistance programs like the Low-Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), pending eligibility.
  • Energize Delaware shared ways to save energy and money; attendees can register for a free Weatherization Kit.
  • Delaware Weatherization Assistance Program offered information on weatherization services to help customers reduce energy costs by increasing energy efficiency.
  • Delaware Resilience Hub shared emergency preparedness information.

So far this year, we have connected our Delaware customers to more than $5.3 million in energy assistance. It is one of the many ways we are providing more than energy to the communities we serve.
