Pepco and Delmarva Power Granted Approval to Expand Transportation Electrification Options for Maryland Customers

The Maryland Public Service Commission approved a pilot program proposed by Pepco and Delmarva Power, as well as proposals from BG&E and Potomac Edison, to expand transportation electrification options for Maryland customers over the next five years. Pepco and Delmarva Power’s proposal included deployment of hundreds of discounted electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in homes, multi-unit dwellings, and workplaces. Pepco and Delmarva Power will also install charging infrastructure in dozens of public spaces across the state.

Electric vehicles benefit everyone, not just EV owners, and this proposal positions Maryland as a leader in supporting EV adoption. As drivers increasingly turn to EVs, the state can develop a more efficient electric grid, take steps to meet its clean air and Healthy Chesapeake Bay goals, and spur economic growth through the development of a regional charging network. Pepco and Delmarva Power appreciate the Public Service Commission raising this vital topic and the collaborative efforts of everyone involved in the process. We now look forward to implementing the approved portions and are eager to continue this important discussion with all interested stakeholders.
