From Community Partnerships to Workforce Programs: Paving the Way to a More Inclusive Future

Not only does diversity, equity, and inclusion create a sense of belonging, but it also drives growth in the workplace and beyond. Recently named a 2025 Trailblazer Impact honoree by the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce and The African American New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, Atlantic City Electric is proud to foster efforts to turn DEI conversations into action.

Encouraging diverse perspectives and increasing representation helps fuel innovation and strengthen connections with customers, community, and one another. A few meaningful ways we’ve incorporated DEI into our culture and work include:

Connecting with Team Members

We want our team to feel heard and know their voice matters. It’s essential that we offer opportunities for team members to listen and learn from one another.

  • Exelon, Atlantic City Electric’s parent company, offers 10 employee resource groups (ERGs) with chapters across utilities. Not only do these groups provide educational value, but they offer a comfortable space for individuals to share experiences and form real connections.

  • We also have a DEI Council that helps identify new DEI initiatives and how we can incorporate and advocate for diverse perspectives across the organization.

Building a Diverse Workforce

Providing tools and opportunities for all has been an important step in helping the next generation get a foot in the door, close the skilled workers gap and empower a more diverse workforce.

  • We hosted the second annual ACE-celerate! camp with the Exelon Foundation, Rowan College of South Jersey and the NEED Project, giving 40 local students hands-on exposure to careers in energy.

  • In partnership with The Precisionists, Inc. (TPI), we’ve created full-time analyst positions for neurodivergent professionals. In just three weeks, their team processed nearly 3,000 work orders – a powerful example of how diverse ways of thinking can drive incredible results.

Creating Thriving Communities

Investing in our neighborhoods helps to create a thriving and more equitable community.

  • In 2024, Atlantic City Electric invested $150 million in goods and services from diverse suppliers to support local businesses, community growth, and economic advancement.
  • Our team also joined forces with local partners KABOOM!, Gateway Community Action Partnership, and the Borough of Paulsboro to build a new playground at West Buck Street Park. Over 100 volunteers gathered to ensure that every child has access to the physical, mental, and social benefits of play.

At Atlantic City Electric, we’re more than just an energy provider – we’re a partner, neighbor, and champion for progress. Together, we can build a stronger, more inclusive future for South Jersey.
