Marisa Slaten, New Director of Corporate Community Impact, Will Help Focus Our Efforts to Deliver Value to the Communities We Serve

We’re proud to announce that Pepco Holdings, of which Pepco is a part, has named Marisa Slaten director of Corporate Community Impact. This new role for the company will combine economic development initiatives, community outreach,  engagement, corporate philanthropy and volunteerism under one umbrella.

Priority initiatives for Slaten’s team will include developing future leaders in energy through STEM programming with middle and high schools, partnerships with Historically Black Colleges and Universities, and partnerships and programs that help ensure every customer has access to affordable energy services.

“We’re very excited about the development of this new role and Marisa’s appointment, as we believe our company has a direct responsibility to do our part to foster equity and equality in the communities where we operate and live,” said Rodney Oddoye, senior vice president of Governmental, Regulatory and External Affairs for Pepco Holdings. “With her background in policy and public service, Marisa is the ideal leader to champion our efforts to deliver value to the communities we serve.”

Slaten brings more than 20 years of public and private sector experience to the role, including her most recent position as director of Regulatory Strategy and Services for Pepco Holdings, where she played a key role in the New Jersey and Delaware regulatory commissions’ approval of a variety of transformational initiatives. Prior joining the company, she was director of the Division of Clean Energy at the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, during her tenure there she was elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of State Energy Officials. Slaten also held positions as deputy general and special assistance to the attorney general in the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General and started her career as a law clerk at the Supreme Court of New Jersey.

Her public and community service includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Delaware Boys & Girls Club, Lead New Jersey, and the Esther Project. She also serves on the Board of Consultors for the New Jersey Bar Association, Public Utilities Law Section.

“I am excited for this incredible opportunity to bring new approaches and direction that will help expand relationships, drive deeper impact and provide more opportunities for our customers, our communities and our companies,” said Slaten. “We have built a solid foundation in community and economic impact across our region. I’m ready to help build on that foundation and to have even greater influence on driving advancement and change through positive and meaningful action.”
