More opportunities. More support. More than energy.

At Pepco, we’re dedicated to supporting local nonprofits and organizations. Whether they’re opening doors to career opportunities in underserved communities or preparing the next generation of STEM leaders, they’re making a real difference in the lives of residents of the District and Maryland, and we’re proud to support their work.

University of the District of Columbia

The University of the District of Columbia (UDC), the only public university in the nation’s capital, is dedicated to research, community service and empowering students through education. By offering a quality, affordable education, fostering an equitable and inclusive campus culture, and valuing student growth, UDC opens doors to unique career opportunities and community connections.

This year, we are focusing on building a UDC talent pipeline for our immediate human resources needs. We funded the Pepco Scholars Program, which provides a select group of rising sophomores with scholarships covering full tuition and housing for their remaining three years. We also hope to open an energy lab on UDC’s Van Ness Campus soon. We also intend to continue to collaborate with UDC on increasing the future K-12 STEM pipeline through support for STEM programs and events.

Tayac Elementary School

Tayac Elementary School, located in Prince George’s County, is dedicated to encouraging curiosity and building confidence in its students.

We are thrilled to have funded the development of a $40,000 STEM lab in partnership with The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation and the Exelon Foundation to provide students with age-appropriate STEM education and spark an interest in science, technology, engineering, and math. We also funded art teacher Tiffany Dean’s supplies wish list for the 2024-2025 school year.
