Women’s Equality Day serves as a moment to reflect on our values, celebrate the contributions of women across our organization, and reaffirm our commitment to advancing diversity and equity in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and operational fields.
As part of our ongoing support for gender equity and inclusion in our industry we’re proud to spotlight the PHI Women in Operations initiative—a newly formed group dedicated to empowering, connecting, and advancing women across gas and electric operations at Pepco Holdings.

What does Women’s Equality Day mean to you personally and professionally?
It holds deep personal and professional significance for me. It’s a moment to honor the trailblazing women whose courage and resilience paved the way for future generations. I stand on their shoulders, grateful for the mentorship and support that shaped my journey. Professionally, it’s a call to action—a reminder to actively uplift and advocate for emerging women leaders in our organization. Personally, it’s a celebration of choice and possibility. Women today can define success on their own terms, whether as professionals, partners, mothers, or friends. We’ve made remarkable progress, but the journey toward true equality continues. What inspired you to pursue a career in operations, and how has your journey evolved at Pepco?
My passion for people. I’ve always been driven by a desire to lead with empathy and purpose, creating environments where employees feel valued, supported, and empowered. My career began in engineering and evolved through various roles, each offering new challenges and opportunities for growth. Transitioning into leadership allowed me to align my technical background with my commitment to clean energy, community impact, and workforce development. Every step of my journey has been shaped by a belief in the power of people and the importance of sustainable progress.
What advice would you give to young women considering a career in operations or energy?
Pursue what ignites your passion and stay the course. This field is full of opportunity, but it also comes with challenges. There will be moments of doubt and difficulty, but don’t let them define you. Lean on your support network, seek out mentors, and remember that perseverance is key. Your voice, perspective, and leadership are needed now more than ever. The energy industry is evolving, and women have a vital role to play in shaping its future.
