Supporting Our Customers on National Energy Assistance Day and Every Day

Across the nation, affordability and rising energy rates have become pressing challenges for both energy providers and the customers we serve. These challenges are not just about numbers on a bill – they reflect real, household struggles.  We see these challenges firsthand and remain committed to delivering More Than Energy for those we serve.

At Pepco Holdings and our operating companies – Atlantic City Electric, Delmarva Power, and Pepco – we’re a partner in helping our customers navigate these challenges. Over the past year, we have:

  • Connected more than 100,000 customers to over $123.6 million in energy assistance, including $30 million in LIHEAP funding in 2024.
  • Collaborated with community leaders to host multiple community-focused events, including a targeted event with Councilmember Burroughs in Prince George’s County, to provide resources and solutions for energy savings to seniors living in District 8. These events offer hands-on support and access to programs ranging from payment assistance to energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Organized energy assistance events in partnership with organizations such as The Resurrection Center Church, United Way, Gateway Community Action Partnership and Shore Up!, benefiting hundreds of customers New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland.

We believe that empowering customers with tools and knowledge is critical. From energy efficiency initiatives to solar energy and electric vehicle programs, we provide solutions that help customers reduce costs and make informed energy choices.

These efforts demonstrate the power of collaboration — between Pepco Holdings, our community partners, and local leaders — to create meaningful impact.

Looking Ahead: A Call to Action

Addressing energy affordability requires a multifaceted approach. As we mark National Energy Assistance Day, we must remind ourselves of the need to:

  1. Advocate for funding solutions placing customers at the center: Support policies that increase assistance funding without placing undue burden on customers through rate hikes.
  2. Collaborate with regulators and legislators: Work together to reform cost-recovery policies and ensure that infrastructure investments are both effective and affordable.
  3. Foster community partnerships: Partner with local organizations to identify and support the most vulnerable members of our communities.
  4. Invest in customer education: Equip customers with the knowledge and resources to better manage their energy use and expenses.

By prioritizing affordability and empowering our customers, we can alleviate the financial strain many households face.

Celebrating Our Team and Partners

None of this work would be possible without the dedication of our employees and the strength of our community partnerships. From organizing resource fairs to providing one-on-one support, our teams go above and beyond to ensure customers feel supported and valued.

Together, we can build a future where energy is not a source of stress but a foundation for opportunity and growth. On National Energy Assistance Day and every day, let’s commit to making energy accessible and affordable for all.
