We recently welcomed 75 10th-grade students from Surrattsville High School to our Benning facility as part of our partnership with Junior Achievement of Greater Washington. Over the past six weeks, these students participated in Junior Achievement’s “3DE” program, where they were tasked with developing innovative strategies to enhance the Pepco customer experience. With guidance from our employees, they explored real-world challenges and solutions.
Four student teams presented their ideas on how we could help customers save money—enough to take a well-deserved vacation. The winning team’s standout presentation included using AI tools for personalized energy-saving tips, partnering with financial institutions to teach financial literacy, and updating our mobile app to better serve multicultural audiences. These ideas closely align with our mission to empower customers and strengthen communities.
After their presentations, students toured our facility, gaining a firsthand look at the operations and technologies that keep our services running. Through programs like this, we’re helping to develop students’ leadership and problem-solving skills while sparking interest in the energy industry.
We’re incredibly proud of these students and their creativity. By investing in educational partnerships, we’re building a pipeline of future leaders and lighting the way for a brighter tomorrow.
