As the holiday season approaches, Pepco is deepening its commitment to local communities by providing additional funding—beyond its Customer Relief Fund (CRF)—to nonprofits serving families impacted by economic hardship and the government shutdown. In 2024, Pepco contributed over $3 million to organizations across the District and Maryland.
Pepco is investing in organizations tackling food insecurity, housing, and emergency assistance, including:
- United Way of the National Capital Area ($25,000) to advance Crisis Response Programs focused on workforce development and housing stability.
- Capital Area Food Bank ($50,000) sponsor emergency food distribution for federal workers and ongoing support for the Prince George’s County Community Marketplace, which provides 48,000 meals annually.
- Mission of Love Charities ($10,000) to serve limited-income families in Prince George’s County.
- United Communities Against Poverty ($5,000) to deliver food assistance, housing support, and emergency shelter services.
Enhanced programs offered for federal employees during the government shutdown will gradually stand down to allow customers time to resume normal payment activity. Current disconnection holds, and late payment charge waivers will remain until their scheduled expiration. Customers may utilize resources such as Assistance Finder and Single Stop to identify available benefits related to housing, food, and additional support services.
“During these challenging times, our dedication to the communities we serve runs deep,” said Amber Perry, Pepco region president. Pepco is dedicated to keeping neighbors connected and supported this holiday season.
