Unveiling a New STEM Center at Tayac Elementary School

The Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, in collaboration with the Exelon Foundation, hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of a state-of-the-art STEM center at Tayac Elementary School in Fort Washington, Maryland.

This event was part of a three-year, $3 million initiative by Pepco’s parent company, Exelon, to open 81 STEM centers across its service area.  Odessa Shannon Middle School in Montgomery County and Excel Academy in Washington, D.C. are also receiving new STEM centers this year, as part of the partnership.

The new STEM center at Tayac Elementary became the 561st center opened by the Cal Ripken, Sr. Foundation, providing underserved communities with access to cutting-edge technology and hands-on learning tools. These centers are part of the Foundation’s national efforts to empower youth through education and skill-building, particularly in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM).
