In every neighborhood across Pepco’s region, I see the same spirit that defines this community: one built on connection, compassion, and perseverance. It’s that spirit that guides my work every day as Region President for Pepco and what gives me confidence in our shared future.
These past few months have reminded us how quickly uncertainty can affect the lives of those around us. The federal government shutdown brought real challenges for many families and small businesses in our area. Through it all, I’ve seen our community and teams come together to help one another in ways big and small. Whether through flexible billing support, connecting neighbors to financial assistance, or simply being present, we remain committed to meeting customers where they are and providing reliable, affordable service they can count on.
I’m also deeply inspired by how our community leaders, partners, and employees continue to turn ideas into action. Through the Sustainable Communities Grant Program, more than $120,000 in funding supported local projects that restore green spaces, strengthen infrastructure, and promote environmental education across D.C. and Maryland.
This fall also brought moments that reminded me why workforce development is so personal to me. As a proud Howard University graduate, I know the power of education and access to opportunity — and I see that same spirit in our partnerships with local schools and programs like the DC Infrastructure Academy (DCIA). This year, we celebrated the 300th graduate of the Pepco Utility Training Program, a milestone that represents hundreds of District residents gaining the skills and confidence to build rewarding careers in the energy industry.
During Careers in Energy Week, our teams connected with even more students across the region, helping them see how their curiosity and talent can shape the future of clean, reliable energy. Moments like these remind me that the region’s future is bright — because it’s being built by people who live and work right here in our communities.
As the year comes to a close, I’m filled with gratitude for the people who make this work meaningful: our employees, customers, and the community partners who dedicate their time and heart to helping others. Whether through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, local toy drives, or neighborhood volunteering, these moments remind me that our strength comes from working together.
Thank you for your continued partnership and for all that you do to make this region such a vibrant place to live, work, and grow. I look forward to all that we will accomplish together in the year ahead.
Warm regards,
Amber Perry
