The holidays bring great cheer and joy to our communities and last year, we celebrated the wonderful time of year as an opportunity to give back, especially to those who need a helping hand. Here are just a few ways our employees gave back to the communities where we live and work.

Sew ‘N Know Holiday Bazaar – For more than a decade, Pepco has worked with youth in the District to help them learn more about the arts, science, sewing, and the fashion industry. Last December, 25 youth visited Pepco’s Edison Place Gallery for the Sew ‘N Know Holiday Bazaar. Nearly 100 Pepco employees participated in this mentoring event.

Mayor’s Annual Senior Holiday Celebration – Pepco employees joined Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Department of Aging and Community Living’s to celebrate our local seniors. Seventy-five employee volunteers helped provide a memorable holiday celebration for more than 1,000 seniors. Attendees enjoyed a festive lunch, fitness demonstrations, live music, and much more at the celebration. This annual event allows area seniors to take time to discover new hobbies, make friends, and connect with their community.

Angel Tree – Through the Salvation Army Angel Tree program, Pepco employees were able to bring holiday cheer to many local children and their families. Twenty-five Pepco employees distributed 210 gift bags and more than 100 employees adopted Angels. Since Pepco started participating in this event in 2013, employees have adopted more than 1,000 Angels.

“Pepco is proud to have worked with the Salvation Army for several years to help those in need,” said Anglatette Glymph, senior community relations specialist. “We feel really blessed we are able to help these children and their families have a bright and exciting holiday season.”
