On May 16, Atlantic City Electric and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 210 held a heartfelt dedication ceremony at the Atlantic Regional Office in Mays Landing. The event honored the 21 Atlantic City Electric colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice over the past 90 years while performing their duties.
The newly created memorial garden is a serene space, beautifully landscaped with new benches and a memorial stone. It offers a place for employees and visitors to reflect on the lives and contributions of those lost. The ceremony was attended by the families of the honored colleagues, Atlantic City Electric employees, and members of IBEW Local 210.
The program featured moving remarks from several key figures, including Bruce Davis, vice president of ACE/DPL Electric Distribution Operations, Ryan Lewis, director of Electric Operations, Zach Story, business manager of IBEW Local 210, and Tyler Anthony, president and CEO of Pepco Holdings. Each speaker reflected on the importance of a safety-focused partnership and shared stories about the honorees, reminding all of the critical role safety plays in daily work.
In his closing remarks, Tyler Anthony emphasized the significance of the memorial:
“This memorial is not just a tribute to their memory, but a testament to their unwavering commitment and bravery. Each name etched here represents a story of dedication, a life of service, and a legacy of courage. Today, we honor their memory by committing ourselves to the values they embodied: dedication, resilience, and an unyielding commitment to safety.”
The creation of the memorial garden was made possible through the generous contributions of several donors and suppliers, including Arthur Henry Inc., Angerman Landscaping, Tough Turf Hardscaping, Atlantic City Electric, IBEW Local 210, Galloway Nursery, and Douglass Monuments. Their support and dedication were instrumental in bringing the project to life.
As we gathered to honor our colleagues who made the ultimate sacrifice, we were reminded of their dedication and the indelible mark they left on our hearts. Their spirit continues to inspire and motivate us daily. This memorial garden stands as a testament to their legacy and our ongoing commitment to creating a safer workplace for everyone.
