Lighting the Path with a Life-Changing Scholarship

When Jennifer Giovanni walked into Overbrook High School on May 15, she believed she was attending a final interview for a scholarship. Instead, she was met with a life-changing surprise: a full-ride scholarship to Rutgers University, courtesy of the Exelon Foundation’s Chris Crane Memorial Scholarship

This prestigious scholarship is awarded to alumni of Exelon’s STEM Academy and Boys to STEM Academy programs. It supports students like Jennifer, who will begin studying electrical, electronics and communications engineering this fall, as they pursue careers in the energy sector. Covering tuition, room, and board for up to four years, the scholarship removes financial barriers and opens doors to a bright future.

Named in honor of Exelon’s former CEO, the Chris Crane Memorial Scholarship celebrates his legacy of advancing equity in education and opportunity. It’s more than just financial support — it’s a bridge from early STEM exposure to impactful careers in energy, empowering students to thrive, lead, and give back to their communities.
