The Pepco WaterShed Sustainability Center is a living classroom for sustainable energy and water practices. Scott Tjaden, now an innovation technology specialist for Pepco, helped design and build the house with other students from the University of Maryland, and won the 2011 Solar Decathlon held by the U.S. Department of Energy.
We were impressed at what the students achieved, so we acquired WaterShed and reconstructed it at our Rockville Service Center. Today, the house is used as an interactive exhibit where customers and the community can see and experience the benefits of sustainable living.
