Atlantic City Electric knows how important powering a community is. In fact, the team spent 11,400 hours volunteering and partnering with 158 local non-profits in 2024. Our impact resonates throughout South Jersey, driving meaningful change and earning us New Jersey Business Magazine’s 2025 Award for Excellence in Community Service.
When people think of giving back, they often think of volunteer events. But for us, it’s about cultivating community and customer connections, mentoring the next generation, championing sustainability, and truly creating a difference in people’s lives.
There are many ways Atlantic City Electric defines community service, and here’s just a few examples that we’re proud to be part of:
Customer Support
With customers at the center of everything we do, we’re dedicated to helping manage rising energy costs. Through neighborhood pop-ups and local events, our goal is to meet customers where they are to provide more information on energy education and bill support:
- In 2024, our team attended 80 in-person events and provided $60 million in financial assistance to over 35,000 customers.
- In partnership with Exelon and NJ SHARES, we launched a $4 million Atlantic City Electric Customer Relief Fund this summer to help customers who are challenged by rising energy costs.
Workforce Development
Preparing the next generation with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in energy plays an integral part in growing our industry. Through initiatives and partnerships with local organizations and colleges, we’re prioritizing education around STEM and opening doors for students to explore careers in our field.
- Last summer, we launched ACE-Celerate! STEM Camp in partnership with the Exelon Foundation, Rowan College of South Jersey and National Energy Education Development (NEED) Project, which provided more than 40 local high school students with hands-on learning. The program made its return this August.
- In collaboration with the Atlantic County Workforce Development Board and the Exelon STEM Academy, the Spark Internship Program has helped introduce local high school students to the utility industry.
Sustainability
South Jersey’s future depends on strong infrastructure, cleaner energy solutions, and community spaces that bring neighbors together – and our team is working every day to make that a reality.
- Together with KABOOM!, Gateway Community Action Partnership, and the Borough of Paulsboro, more than 100 volunteers joined forces to build a new playground at West Buck Street Park to create a place where kids can experience the social, physical, and mental benefits of play.
- Our Energy Savings for Businesses program can cover up to 80 percent of total costs for qualifying energy efficient equipment. Programs like this one help businesses lower their energy usage and costs.
- Through an ongoing partnership with Sustainable Jersey, we’ve distributed over $310,000 in grants since 2020 to municipalities across the state to support sustainability initiatives and fuel the path to a cleaner, brighter future.
