Students Explore Energy Innovation at Summer STEM Camp

The second year of ACE-Celerate! STEM Summer Camp took Cumberland County high school students on a two-week, hands-on journey through science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), made possible by our partners at the National Energy Education Development Project (NEED) and Rowan College of South Jersey.

At our Mays Landing facility, students flew drones, stepped into bucket trucks, and connected with our team to see how STEM powers everyday life. They later explored new technologies at Rowan College of South Jersey’s Mechatronics Innovation Learning Lab (MILL), built their own motors, and designed wind blades.

“ACE-Celerate! is about more than just teaching STEM concepts,” said Jaclyn Carter, Senior Vice President, Government & Regulatory External Affairs at Pepco Holdings, which includes Atlantic City Electric. “It’s about empowering students to imagine themselves in these careers and inspiring them to be part of the energy workforce of the future. I look forward to one day welcoming these students back to Atlantic City Electric as fellow team members.”

The program concluded with students presenting their final Energy Innovation Challenge projects, showcasing creative ideas to advance sustainability and energy solutions in their communities. With two years now complete, ACE-Celerate! continues to connect young people with the tools, experiences, and mentorship that can open doors to a future in STEM.
