At our annual Atlantic City Electric Golf Classic golfers hit the green to support organizations driving change within our region. This annual event, supported by the PHI Community Foundation, provides Atlantic City Electric employees, community members, and local organizations with a chance to network and make a lasting impact in their region.
This year, nearly $40,000 was raised and will benefit Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties, Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City, and the to support their missions of helping our youth meet their full potential.
At the Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties, volunteers are dedicated to igniting the power and promise of local youth. Proceeds from the Charity Golf Classic enable them to offer a wide variety of mentorship programs.
“It’s the people who make partnerships impactful,” said Donna Bennett, president and CEO of Big Brothers & Big Sisters of Cumberland and Salem Counties. “From mentoring students within our program to providing event sponsorships, Atlantic City Electric team members have made it possible for us to continue to serve kids in our communities.”
Contributions to the Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City will support its work to introduce young children and teenagers to science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM). Their STEAM Workforce Program offers Kindergarden-8th graders hands-on activities with LEGO products and robots, and the Teen Center serves as a hub for local students to experience real-life scenarios and exposure to career readiness beyond post-secondary education opportunities.
“The programs we offer are designed to provide kids with a safe place to reach their potential and expose them to endless opportunities,” said Tracey Triniwell, CEO of Boys & Girls Club of Atlantic City. “Partnerships like the one we have with Atlantic City Electric enable us to provide STEAM camps, field trips, and opportunities to connect our students to leaders across the industry.”
Support for the National Coalition of 100 Black Women will help the organization continue to advocate on the behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in health, education, and economic development. Their programs are designed to create a world where social-economic inequity does not exist.
Each organization plays a vital role in empowering our neighborhoods, providing opportunities to our local youth, and events like the annual Golf Classic shine a light on these incredible organizations. Thank you to all of the golfers who made this a hole-in-one event and to the charities for their continued commitment to driving change in our region.
