When You Flip the Switch, We’re Already at Work

When you flip a switch, charge your phone, or turn the lights on, without thinking twice, you expect your power to be working. To make that happen, Pepco invests in the poles, wires and equipment that safely deliver electricity to homes and businesses. Pepco also invests in the skilled crews, engineers and experts who maintain, repair, and strengthen the energy system every day.

Recently in Prince George’s County, our crews replaced a damaged utility pole that helps bring power safely to nearby homes and businesses. The work took several hours and included installing a new 50-foot pole, upgrading older equipment, digging a new hole, removing the old pole, and reconnecting the wires. This is the same kind of careful work crews do after storms to repair damaged poles and help restore power safely.

“We want to make sure we keep the lights on for our customers and that we keep the public safe,” said Jason Crosse, Pepco’s Senior Manager of Overhead Lines. “Work like this lets customers know they can depend on us,” Crosse added.

Our ongoing maintenance work helps reduce outages, strengthens reliability, and supports faster restoration when storms or damage affects service. While customers go about their day, Pepco crews are working behind the scenes to keep power safe, reliable and ready when it’s needed most.
